Connecting to ChatGPT

This page walks through connecting Antpocket to ChatGPT.
There is no API key to issue — enter the address, sign in and allow the request.

These steps follow ChatGPT's official documentation. ChatGPT changes its menus and layout often, so the actual screens may differ from what is described here.

Before you start​

  • A paid account is required. Pro, Plus, Business, Enterprise and Edu are supported; free accounts cannot use this.
  • That is a ChatGPT requirement and unrelated to your Antpocket plan. Antpocket connects on the free plan too.
  • Web browser only. You cannot add a connection from the mobile app.
  • On Business and Enterprise, a workspace admin has to enable the feature first.

Turning on developer mode​

Adding your own connection is switched off by default. Turn it on first.

  1. In ChatGPT settings, go to Settings > Security and login.
  2. Turn on Developer mode.

Adding the Antpocket connection​

  1. Go to Plugins. (This used to be called Connectors.)

  1. Click + to create a new entry.

  2. Paste the address below into the URL field.

  1. Choose OAuth as the authentication type. It will not connect if you leave it as no authentication.
  1. Create it, and the Antpocket sign-in and approval screen opens. There you choose the space to connect and the permissions to allow.

The approval screen explains each field on that screen. Both services use the same one.

When a write action runs​

ChatGPT asks you to confirm before running anything that changes data. Read it and proceed.

ChatGPT also labels connections like this one as "Elevated risk". That means a connection you added yourself has not been reviewed by ChatGPT, so you need to check what is about to run.

Antpocket has its own safeguard. Inbound, outbound, transfer and adjustment requests only go as far as submitting an inventory slip as Pending Review, and stock is updated only after a person approves it on the web. See Connecting AI for details.

If it doesn't connect​

  • No add button in the list — check that developer mode is on.
  • Free account — this feature is only available on paid accounts.
  • Trying from the mobile app — use a web browser.
  • The sign-in window doesn't open — check that the authentication type is set to OAuth.
  • Double-check the address — it is https://antpocket.io/mcp.
